DUCATI 996 SUPERBIKE 1999 1/9

CARL FOGARTY E TROY CORSER

Ducati and Carl Fogarty just belong together. That was what the champ said about himself and his superbike. The Briton was able to defend his title in 1999 and by the next to last race at Hockenheim had already become Superbike World Champion for the fourth time. Starting the 1999 season technically with only minor improvements to the cylinder head, fork and rear suspension, the 1000-V-twins with their tractor-like engine power were rarely in serious danger, e.g. due to occasional tyre problems - the Ducati obviously worked the Michelin tyres harder than the Honda. The Australian Troy Corser came third in the '99 World Championship. The Ducati 996 has a twin-cylinder engine that produces 176 bhp at 12,800 rpm. The acceleration is absolutely out of this world: 0 to 200 km/h in 6 seconds max. speed: 300 km/h.
