Product information
The CORSAIR was America's most important fighter in the Pacific theatre. The example we selected as our prototype was restored by Ray Dieckmann in his own hangar at Chino, California, to a superb standard. During this project he made contact with Ken Walshauf, a flying ace from the second World War, with the result that he was able to apply an authentic registration scheme. The sole modification which Dieckmann carried out compared with other CORSAIRS was to install a second seat behind the pilot. Since the Summer of 2000 he has flown the machine regularly in air shows in America. In the design of our model we placed great importance on good-natured handling, and this emphasis is evident on the final approach where the CORSAIR can be landed in a convincing scale manner with flaps lowered. With a 20 cc four-stroke the model is easily capable of realistic flight manoeuvres. The high levelof pre-fabrication, including factory-painted GRP fuselage, cowl and wing centre section, pre-covered wing panels, tailplane, rudder and flaps, allows the builder to complete the CORSAIR very quickly. The kit includes a pneumatic retractable undercarriage which operates in the scale manner, i.e. the wheels rotate through 90° during the retraction process. The set includes all accessories, such as pressure cylinder, T-pieces, valve and pneumatic hose, and simply needs to be screwed into the model and connected.
The outboard wing panels and tailplane are of balsa-skinned high-density foam construction. The rudder is supplied as a pre-covered item, and is actuated by closed-loop cables which improve the model's realism considerably. Each aileron and elevator is actuated by its own servo. The divided landing flaps are inter-connected mechanically, and controlled by one servo in each wing. The decal sheet includes all the decals required for the selected prototype
